Originally from Augusta, GA, we moved here when I was five years old. I loved growing up in Charlotte and when taking potential buyers around, it always takes me back to my childhood and wonderful memories. I love presenting the Queen City, surrounding areas, and our state.
Cottingham Chalk has been my professional family my entire real estate career, which began in 1988. I was blessed to join a firm that stands on a belief of integrity and the golden rule – what a joy it has been to be affiliated with the best role models a professional could ever have. I currently serve as a mediator for the Charlotte Regional Realtors Association and am honored to be a past president as well as the 2013 CRRA Realtor of the Year recipient.
I love my profession, and to have the trust of clients with what is probably the largest investment anyone makes at a given time. When someone relocates to the area, they depend upon me to guide them on what is going to be a sound investment for their family’s future. Helping people find a house and neighborhood to call home is certainly a rewarding part of my job.
For a very personal reason, I am proud to hold a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation. I am one of five girls and we lost our father at a young age and our mother developed Alzheimer’s in her early 60s. After my father’s death, I watched my mother make major decisions on her own for the first time in her life. Then when she developed Alzheimer’s, I dealt firsthand with how difficult it was to know the right thing to do for her care. With these experiences, I realized I wanted to help people in similar situations, to help guide them through the minefields involved in various types of transitions.
I love spending time with my husband, a retired PGA professional and player, our two children, and our four granddaughters, who are the light of my life. When together, I share such special times with my four sisters.
I enjoy cooking, playing golf, card and board games, reading a good book and traveling. I have traveled in and out of the United States, but I think there is nothing prettier than the sites we have here in America. I love to see an American flag waving proudly with the beautiful Carolina blue sky in the background. Organizations near and dear to me are the American Red Cross, Special Olympics and the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
I used to be a stewardess for Delta Airlines and I was the field representative for Senator Howard Baker of Tennessee. As you can see, my professional life has always been being of service to the public.
